How to get over the slump in your life?

All of us have been through circumstances when we feel that life has cheated on us or that we have come to a dead end and it wasn’t how we had planned life to be.
Especially in these times of global recession many of us have lost our jobs or have had slashes in our paychecks. But we can’t afford to loose our minds in these difficult times. Just as the old saying goes ‘When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.’
Now I’ve just worked out certain ways in which we can keep the slump out of our minds & learn to smile.

1. Don’t forget, whatever happens never give up your smile. A soft smile & a hearty laugh can reduce a lot
of stress. Your smile is so precious because it brings hope & joy to those who love you. It will always cheer them up. So keep smiling.

2. Never loose your confidence. This is one of the most important things we must always remember. If we are sure of something we have to do then we must never get discouraged by what others have to say. Only we know our true caliber, the others will only judge us by what we have already done. They don’t know what our real potential is, we do. And if you’re confident, it shows.

3. Always be true to your own self. In this rat race of deadlines to meet & targets to achieve, we get so caught up that we loose touch with our true selves. I’m sure many of you would agree when I say that we are so busy in our lives today that most of us would not even remember what it actually was that we wanted to achieve when we first set out on this journey. Are we just a money minting machine or is there something more that we wanted from life. Connect with your inner self & restore your mind. Find out what you really want from life. If you can do it, it makes life so much simpler.

4. Look at this time as an opportunity. All of us have some great hobby or a dream job that we always wanted to do but never had the time for, or either the inclination to risk our careers for it. So now is the time. While you’re looking for your main job, don’t just sit at home & wait for something to happen. Use this time to do what you always wanted to do. Paint, read books, write a book, join a theatre group, a cycling club, go for a hike, learn salsa, learn to play a musical instrument…..these are just a few examples I can think of. There would be many more things and you would know what interests you, so go for it. Maybe it will become a second profession for you. All the best.

5. And last but not the least, Express Yourself. Remember in the difficult times the more you share your thoughts & feelings with your family & friends, the better you’ll feel. Don’t be shy to express your fears, they’ll only lessen by sharing. Don’t keep your thoughts piled in yourself. It does a lot of damage to our health in the long run. We must all stick together in difficult times. It gives us inner strength to fight problems in life.

So these are just a few ways to sail through the rough waters & keep looking for the silver lining in the clouds.
If you have any thoughts to share with me….pls write….I’d love to hear from you…
Keep smiling.
